Spiritually means waking up.

People don't want to grow up, change, or be happy.

It's only when you're sick of your sickness that you'll get the most out of it.

Do you know when you've woken up? It's when you ask yourself, am I crazy or are they.

Step one, realize that you don't want to wake up.

When you renounce something, you are tied to it. The only way to get through it is to see through it.

Step two, readiness to listen, understand, challenge your whole belief system.

There are two types of selfishness:

  1. I give myself the pleasure of pleasing myself; this is called self-centeredness
  2. When I give myself the pleasure of pleasing others.

Sufi would say, "a saint is one until he or she knows it" Unselfconscious.

  1. When you do something good so that you won't get a bad feeling.

Your brainwashed when you take on or "introject" an idea that's not yours that is someone else's.

Self-observation: to watch everything in you around you as far as possible and to watch it as if it's happening to someone else. It means you don't personalize what's happening to you. It means you look at things as if you have no connection whatsoever.

Understanding stopped at that moment; you slapped a label on him.

How will you understand what you disprove of or what you approve of, for that matter?

It's going to take a while for you to understand this thing called "I" is a conglomeration of your past experiences of your conditioning and programming.

We begin with these things first, with an awareness of things; then we move to an awareness of thoughts, and finally awareness of the thinker. Things, thoughts, thinker.

Ultimately there are two things; love and fear.

When seeing things occur to you as if you're watching yourself, you are disidentifying with "me."

The unaware life is the mechanical life. It's not human; it's programmed, conditioned.

What you're aware of you in control. What your not aware of is in control of you.

Don't seek the truth; just drop your opinions.

Happiness is our natural state. Happiness is the natural state of children to whom the kingdom belongs until they have been polluted and contaminated by the stupidity of society and culture.

  1. Get in touch with negative feelings your not aware of.
  2. Understand that the feeling is in you, not in reality.
  3. Never identify with that feeling. It has nothing to do with "I."
  4. How do you change things yourself?

The person who is always asleep thinks he'll feel better if somebody else changes. You don't do anything to be free; you drop something. Then you're free.

We see people and things not as they are but as we are.

Put this program into action a thousand times: (a) identify the negative feelings in you; (b) understand that they are in you, not in the world, not in external reality; (c) do not see them as an essential part of "I"; these things come and god) understand that when you change, everything changes.

Part of waking up is that you live your life as you see fit. And understand: that is not selfish. The selfish thing is to demand someone else live their life as you see fit.

One understands one's worth when one no longer identifies or defines oneself in these transient things.

Until people come awake, they are simply accepting or rejecting their image of you.

To lose the self is to suddenly realize that you are something other than what you thought you were.

Desire in the healthy sense of the word is energy, and the more energy we have, the better. Don't suppress desire; understand it.

Desire will then be transformed into what I call a preference.

When you go through life with preferences but don't let your happiness depend on any one of them, then you are awake.

Whatever a relationship may be, it undoubtedly entails two things: clarity of perception and accuracy of response.

Suppose all you experience is your concept, your not experiencing reality because reality is concrete. The idea is to help lead you to reality, but you've got to Intuit or experience it directly when you get there.

Awareness of reality around you. Awareness means to watch, to observe what is going on within you and around you.

One observes it, and one watches it. It is essential for the human being not just to observe himself or herself, but to watch all of reality.

Get in touch with things, look at them. Hopefully, you will then break out of these rigid patterns we have all developed, out of what our thoughts and our words have imposed on us. Hopefully, we will see. What will we see? This thing that we choose to call reality, whatever is beyond words and concepts.

There are thousands of words in our vocabulary that do not correspond to reality at all. But do they trigger emotions in us?

Don't carry over experiences from the past. Don't carry over good experiences from the past either. Learn what it means to experience something fully, then drop it and move on to the next moment, uninfluenced by the previous one.

Craving distorts and destroys perception. Fears and desires haunt us.

An attachment is a belief that without something, you are not going to be happy.

You only change through awareness and understanding.

How does one cope with evil? Not by fighting it but by understanding it. In understanding,.it disappears.

That is why people are always searching for a meaning to life. But life has no meaning; it cannot have meaning because meaning is a formula; meaning is something that makes sense to the mind. Every time you make sense out of reality, you bump into something that destroys the sense you made. Meaning is only found when you go beyond meaning. Life only makes sense when you perceive it as mystery and makes no sense to the conceptualizing mind.

The only tragedy is in the world of ignorance. All evil comes from that. The only tragedy there is in the world is unawakefullness and unawareness. From them come fears, and from fear comes everything else.

You need the expert - you don't need understanding, insight, awareness - you don't need pushing. You don't need effort.

Wisdom occurs when you drop barriers you have erected through your concepts and conditioning. Wisdom is not something acquired; wisdom is not experience; wisdom is not applying yesterday's allusions to today's problems.

What does it mean to love? It means to see a person, situation, a thing as it is, not as you imagine it to be.

Slow down and taste and smell and hear, and let your senses come alive.

You don't change yourself; it's not me changing me. Change takes place through you, in you.

To see at last with a vision that is clear and unclouded by fear and desire.
